2020-2021 Jockey Club Women's Youth Football League (U15) – League Update

MLFA and Citizen met up in Jockey Club HKFA Football Training Centre on Sunday morning for a top of the table clash in the Jockey Club Women's Youth Football League (U15). MLFA dug itself out from a two-goal deficit and edged Citizen in a dramatic 3:2 win.

MLFA seized early control of the game and sent waves of attack to the Citizen end. Thankfully for Citizen, goalkeeper SIN, Ching Fei was on top of her game and kept MLFA at bay.

On the 17th minute, MLFA’s Souleyman, Olivia Kate and Schwartz, Skylar Ellie had successive shots on the Citizen net but were turned away by SIN, Ching Fei on both occasions. The ball somehow funneled back towards the Citizen net but was cleared away by a Citizen defender on the goal-line.

Shortly afterwards, CHAN, Wing Ching connected with a teammate’s well-placed forward pass and scored with a clinical finish, putting Citizen in front.

Citizen doubled its lead on the 27th minute, as CHAN, Wing Ching picked up the ball on the right wing, then pulled the trigger on a powerful drive and found the back of the net through the near-post. Citizen managed to nurse its two-goal lead all the way to the end of the first half.

MLFA regrouped during the interval and went on a siege in the second half.

On the 55th minute, Souleyman, Isabella Amelia did well on the right wing and knocked the ball towards the middle. Schwartz, Skylar Ellie buried her chance and beat substitute Citizen goalkeeper LAM, Ho Yan with her shot, pulling one back for MLFA.

MLFA went on and equalized on the 65th minute. Singer, Ava Lena Grace unloaded a long range shot from outside the Citizen box and scored, tying the game at 2:2.

On the 77th minute, more dramatics followed, as Ramachandran, Tara Lakshmi unloaded from the middle and beat the Citizen goalkeeper, sending MLFA in front 3:2 in the dying moments.

The score eventually stood towards the final whistle, as MLFA completed its comeback on the day and clinched a dramatic 3:2 win over Citizen.

Later on the same day, HKJFL beat Kitchee 4:1 in the second Jockey Club Women's Youth Football League (U15) fixture of the day.
